I downloaded the list of Russian words I’ve learned via the API so that I could cross-reference it with a video transcript and identify which words I still need to learn in order to understand all the vocabulary in the video. I don’t want to work directly on the transcript itself, as I think that doing so might make the video less enjoyable to watch.
However, I’ve noticed that when I compare the words exported from LingQ with the transcript, some words that I’m certain I’ve marked as learned in LingQ don’t appear in the exported list. Two examples are хотя and ведь, which are both very common Russian words.
I was wondering if there’s a specific rationale behind this behavior, or if it might simply be a bug?
Some additional observations, I think it might be related to the size of the words because it seems to impact small russian words. I don’t find words like на (on) or не (not) or по (by). But that is not true of all words.
Hi, just a guess: You marked these words as “known” from the get-go.
The vocabulary list shows only words (or word combinations) for which you created lingQs. So when you mark a word as “known” while reading them for the first time, they don’t appear in the vocabulary list.
Also the words that were blue and turned to “known” by finishing a lesson and turning all blue words to “known” don’t show up in the vocabulary list.
Thank you for your response. No, that cannot be it, because the number of words (~16k) matches all the words I have seen LingQ and from the get-go. I don’t have that many LingQ recorded.
So they include get-go/turned to blue by switching page. Else I would barely have a few thousands.
I’m suspecting it’s more of a bug, but only a dev could assess that.
The words displayed and download match in terms of count.
When a word is known out of the box, or when page move, I see the count increase. But I’m not sure that it is the case when I press the cross icon, so maybe you are on to something.
But the system knows that I know these words (because they are no longer highlighted), and I would expect that they would be counted as beeing known. Whether it is a bug or not, it is an unexpected behaviour from the end user (in this case, myself).
In the export, I haven’t found a single space character, so I assume there are no sentence in there (which would be part of the LingQ, which is something different).

And I start to wonder if you were not mistaken by the fact that the link I pasted leads to the LingQ list.
