What’s the difference between a Known Word vs a Saved Word?
When I make a word Known…does that automatically make it a Saved Word?

The total number of known words includes all LingQs (Saved words) with status 4 (or checkmarked) from the Vocabulary + all words you marked as known directly in a lesson (blue to white, without saving them as LingQs).
