I’ve been working through the official LingQ Mini Stories for Levantine Arabic, and they’ve been a really important part of my learning.
But reaching the end of them doesn’t suddenly make native podcasts, television and normal conversations easy.
I still need a lot more listening and reading before making that jump.
So I’ve started creating my own continuation.
I create short stories with Sol Max and send them to my Jordanian tutor on Preply. He tweaks the writing into real natural Jordanian Arabic and records the audio for me. I then upload them to LingQ.
The stories are based around subjects I actually care about, rather than random textbook dialogues.
That makes me much more likely to listen to them repeatedly and learn the vocabulary properly.
It’s still a work in progress, but I thought I’d share it in case anyone else has finished the official Mini Stories, or is approaching the end and wants something to continue with.
There will be 3 new stories posted every single week on a Sunday. I’ll comment in here after each upload.
I’m now introducing a new type of lesson within the same course. These lessons will retain the short sentences, two perspectives and comprehension questions, but they’ll teach useful ideas instead of telling fictional stories.
The first topics are habits, macros, flexible dieting and training for later life.
