Italian contemporary novels

Last year I wrapped up a trio of long contemporary Italian novels. And a French novel that was all the rage (The Anomaly), Italian translated version. While there’s a wealth of classic work out there, I haven’t found anything interesting when I’ve looked over the last several months. If anyone has read some current sci fi, non-sappy romance, or something else interesting, dimmi!

I don’t have any sci-fi to recommend, but if you’re into crime (gialli), there are some very popular modern ones like Gomorra (more like narrative journalism), La Parenza dei Bambini, Romanzo Criminale, and Suburra. These all have movies or TV series based on them. Some of the dialogues are written in dialect, which makes it fun. These authors also have other books, if you want to read more gialli after the above ones.

Thanks, nfera. I’m always amused by the popularity of gialli, in books and screen. Not my thing, though we did watch a lot of the Montalbano series!
