I hate pop-ups that ask me if I’m sure I want to click on the button that I just actively said I wanted to click on by clicking on it.
I don’t want to waste hours of my life clicking over and over again on buttons I never needed in the first place.
I was fine with this pop-up being added as an OPTION, but I am definitely not okay with it if it can’t be switched off.
What next - a pop-up asking us if we’re sure we want to click on the “I know these words” button? I mean, how much user incompetence are the developers going to cater to?
I remember getting it but now I don’t get it anymore, so there is probably some option in your profile to turn it off. You might even just want to turn all notifications off in LingQ, since a dedicated learner really doesn’t need them to stay motivated.
I don’t get this pop up. Are you seeing it on the web or app? I went through settings on the web and didn’t see anything necessarily that looked like it would turn this on or off. If on the app and you re-installed, or they went to a new version is the only time I see these sort of things again. once.
It was brought up in another topic. I’m assuming it’s a new “feature” that’s being onboarded, and if so I’m hoping there’s the option to switch it off. To be honest, I’d be happy if it was a very late April Fool’s joke, as “Are you sure” buttons are a big pet peeve of mine.
It appears LingQ has actually responded to the years-long user feedback hating the feature of automatically marking all blue words known without warning when one foolishly clicks the checkmark at the end of the lesson.
Of course, not moving blue words to known without warning should be the plain and simple default. And in line with Standard User Interface guidelines.
I guess we should be somewhat grateful that LingQ now provides a preferable, though annoying confirmation dialog.
LingQ remains the most poorly designed, poorly implemented and poorly maintained software I’ve ever paid money for going back to the Apple II.
