Improving Text-to-Speech (TTS) Quality: A Friendly Call for Updates 🌟

Hi everyone!

First, I want to say how much I love using LINGQ . it’s been a game-changer for my language learning journey! The community here is amazing, and the lessons are so engaging. That said, I wanted to gently bring up a topic that’s been on my mind (and maybe yours too): the text-to-speech/voice synthesis feature.

While I appreciate the effort that goes into developing tools like this, the current TTS quality feels a bit outdated compared to recent advancements in AI voices. Many other platforms now use incredibly natural-sounding speech synthesis, which makes practicing pronunciation and listening skills so much more effective. Here, though, the robotic or inconsistent tones sometimes make it harder to immerse myself fully in chinese.

I remember reading about planned improvements to this feature almost a year ago in the forums. As enthusiastic learners, we’re all excited to see how LINGQ could leverage modern AI to elevate the experience! Could the team share an update on this? Even a rough timeline or a sneak peek into upcoming changes would mean the world to us. :bulb:

This isn’t a complaint—just a heartfelt nudge from someone who truly cares about this app’s potential. Let’s keep growing together!

Thanks for listening, and kudos to the devs for all their hard work! :raised_hands:

Yes, please. It could so use an update, especially when compared to other tools out there.
Sometimes it is quite hard to understand the pronunciations.

Totally agree. sometimes you need to read a specific content, especially books and novels, and it is not available as audiobooks or even if it was available it has an expensive price which you cannot afford especially if you read in more than one language. This feature, if it has been developed, would be a great game changer for all members.

Yes please! I am still waiting in hope for just the basic robotic google translate voice as an option…
