Import text with timestamps? (i.e. srt file or similar)

Hey all, I found an all post asking about importing text with timestamps that was closed about 5 years ago saying it would come in LingQ 5.0

I’m curious if I’m missing this or it just still isn’t a feature, but I would VERY much appreciate being able to generate text with audio syncing to the timestamps I provide. There are a number of times I’ve imported a music video / song from YouTube and the text is off or the timestamps is off because the auto-generated captions on YouTube aren’t always the best.

What I’ve done in the past is go to something like ChatGPT or Gemini and ask it to provide me text with timestamps, which is much more accurate.

But then in LingQ, I have to click each sentence and set the timestamps manually which is horribly painful.

Can we just provide our own .srt file or just copy/paste text with timestamps instead? This feature really needs to happen, haha. I can’t see anyone going in to tweak timestamps manually otherwise.

In the past, when you imported an srt file, it took the timestamps from that file. You just gotta make sure you import the audio after that, or otherwise it will automatically use the audio to create the timestamps.

The importer interface has changed, but I don’t see why anything should have changed beyond that, so it should still be working.
