Import from Netflix Start of Movie issue

I’m new to LingQ and just tried to import a Russian Netflix Series. When the import finishes, I then can go to the lesson and see the subtitles in Russian, which is great, but the start of the lesson isn’t the start of the episode. I’m actually not sure where it’s starting. This looks pretty straightforward so I’m not sure what I’m missing. I installed the LingQ Chrome Extension, then opend up Season 1, Episode 1 of my Netflix series. Then clicked the LingQ Chrome Extension and imported it. This was a fast process. So I then went back into LingQ and see the Netflix series. But for some reason the start of Season 1, Episode 1 isn’t in sync with the start of the text that I’m seeing. Any ideas what I’m missing? Thanks!

Hi, I have the same problem but with a Norwegian show. Tried to import it several times, but the script never starts at the beginning :frowning: But the issues only seems to be witht he first episode of the first season. Tried importing the second episode and it works just fine.

That’s strange, we will look into it.

For another example (in French), I just tried importing my first two Netflix lessons - for the tv show Lupin, season 1, I imported both episodes 1 and 2. The script from episode 1 starts about 30 minutes in (~18 minutes left), so missing around the first ~65% of the episode’s worth of text/subtitles.

I haven’t gone through the full second episode yet (just the first couple minutes), but that file is almost 3 times longer, and does start with the very beginning of the episode. So, decided to test a few, and:

  • Lupin S1:E1 (previously watched) -imported dialogue started around 30 minutes in (has ~30 seconds without dialogue, so not precise). Episode is ~48 minutes.
  • Lupin S1:E2 (haven’t watched) - appears to have imported full dialogue
  • Off the Hook S1:E1 (haven’t watched) - appears to have imported full dialogue
  • The Hook Up Plan S1:E1 (previously watched) - imported dialogue starts at time marker 17:35 in the show. Episode is ~28 minutes.
  • The Hook Up Plan S1:E2 (previously watched) - appears to have imported full dialogue
  • Standing Up E1 (haven’t watched) - appears to have imported full dialogue
  • Nothing to Hide (movie - previously watched) - imported dialogue starts at time marker ~16:45 in the show. Movie is 93 minutes.
  • Call My Agent! S1:E1 (previously watched) - imported dialogue starts at time marker 16:44 in the show. Episode is 55 minutes
  • Spoiled Brats (movie - previously watched) - appears to have imported full dialogue
  • Friendzone (movie - previously watched) - appears to have imported full dialogue.

So it seems that - similar to the suggestion by @Teri_24 - that any S1:E1 tv show episode does not import correctly if I have previously watched it. This was consistent across 4 different shows. The tv shows I haven’t yet watched don’t have this issue. I tried to see if this would carry over to movies, but only had the import issue with 1 of the 3 movies I’ve previously watched.

Do you have the latest extension version installed @redtomato501 ?

I have the latest edition of the Firefox extension, 2.2.11, as found on LingQ Importer – Get this Extension for 🦊 Firefox (en-US) - it updates automatically on my browser!

(Also, don’t seem to get forum notifications on the main application anymore, so sorry for the late response.)

Thanks! Do you still have the same problem now?

@zoran I just had a chance to try again on my computer, and tested two of the ones I had issues with (above). With Lupin S1:E1 I didn’t think to delete the existing lesson, and the importer was done suspiciously fast, so I deleted the lesson from Lingq and imported it again (which took the expected few seconds, this time). In both attempts, the dialogue in the lesson started at the same place, about 30 minutes in.

I tried again with the S1:E1 for The Hook-Up Plan, this time deleting the previous lesson from Lingq first, and again, the dialogue in the lesson started in the same spot as before, about 17:35 in.

So yes, I’m still experiencing the same problem based on these test cases!

I’m seeing the same problem. It seems like it only imports the last 10 minutes of episode 1. But it imported all of episode 2. I’m using Firefox with LingQ Importer version 2.2.11 with a Japanese-language Netflix show. I don’t see a newer importer version available. Is there one?

Thanks guys, I’ll let our team know.

Same problem. Lesson starts fairly consistently 25-26 minutes into any Netflix show and goes to the end.
