I'm Running a 30-Day Japanese LingQ Group, Join!

I’m running a 30-day Japanese LingQ group, and I’d love for you to join. The reason is that I want to help you build habits, stay motivated, and interact with others in the community. Click the URL below to join.

After millions of characters read, hundreds of hours of listening and speaking - here are a few things that I’ve learned.

  • Effective time spent with the language will determine your progress.
  • Building a habit is crucial. The most successful language learners go from ‘studying’ the language to ‘living’ the language.
  • Being part of a community is motivating, especially with language learners in the same boat as you.

If you join this group, you’ll also get access to a custom Japanese library shelf and live discussions (there will be 5, more information below).

I’ve seen online Japanese ‘courses’ that cost thousands of dollars! That’s crazy — considering LingQ provides learners with more content and functionality. This is another reason why I wanted to run this experiment — so everyone has a chance to join.

OK, that’s enough rambling from me. This will start on March 1st and end on March 31st.

Live Discussions:

March 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd, and 30th, all at 5 p.m. Pacific Standard Time.

You’ll receive each Live Discussion URL via your profile wall within 48 hours of the start time.

Great idea! Do you know how to turn off Romaji in Lingq? Thanks!

It’s App Settings>Reader scroll down to Sidebar/Widget Settings then choose “Off” for Show Transliteration for both new words and LingQ’s. Finally at the bottom Script Settings switch the drop down for Transliteration Style to “Off”

Thanks, I’d found the first two settings but missed the drop down for Transliteration Style to “Off”.

How do I join? The link just takes me to my LingQ main page…

@PianoKat

Here’s the raw URL: I think if you’re already logged into LingQ, you may not receive the invite. Try logging out and logging in using this URL.

Here are some of the things I talked about last meeting.

Mind-Set

Learning a language is all about the mind-set. If you want to achieve a high level of fluency, you almost need to become obsessed…Check out Will’s dedication for inspiration.
