I would like to have Chinese text displayed with Chinese-specific fonts and Japanese text with Japanese-specific fonts.
There are unique issues when dealing with Chinese and Japanese characters. While both languages use Chinese characters, the actual characters differ slightly. For most characters, separate code points are assigned, so this is not an issue. However, there are some characters that share the same code point.
Because of this, unless it’s specified whether a character should be displayed in a Chinese or Japanese style, it may not display correctly.
In the main text of the reader, characters display properly, so I hadn’t paid much attention to it. However, recently I noticed that in places like word lists, this specification isn’t correctly applied.
Since I usually use Japanese, most of the page is displayed in a Japanese font, while characters that exist only in Chinese appear in a different font. This isn’t just aesthetically uncomfortable; sometimes, the character shape is incorrect, which causes some confusion.
I imagine other users might also experience similar issues. If there is someone on the LingQ team with expertise in this matter, I hope they can look into it.
