I use my credit card only for lingq points.
I got a message that the payment failed from Dominican Food Mart two times. I have no connection with Dominica.
Then I had to cancel my card and order a new one.
Please investigate this situation.
I am not fully knowledgeable about how this all works but I have alerted our technical people. I think that it is not possible for credit card information to leak from our site but let’s wait to hear from them as soon as they see my message.
Thank you!
Hi Jaehyun,
We’re very sorry to hear that you’ve had some suspicious transactions on your credit card. All of our payments are handled by PayPal, so all payments actually take place through them. We don’t actually store your credit card information on our servers, but we had a developer look into it just in case, and he assured us that nothing was “leaked” from our site.
You may also want to contact PayPal (402-935-7733) just to be sure nothing has happened on their end. Let us know if we can do anything else to help you!
“All of our payments are handled by PayPal, so all payments actually take place through them. We don’t actually store your credit card information on our servers,”
I think that there are two payment methods on LingQ. If we pay by credit card, our card numbers and related information are supposed to be “stored in the system.” Doesn’t “the system” refer to the LingQ site?
We can see the following statements.
"You have a card stored in the system. "
“By clicking this button you grant us permission to store your credit card information in the system.”
“All of our payments are handled by PayPal”
All my payments in 2010 were handled by LingQ, because PayPal did not accept the transactions.
Let us wait until we hear from Mark on this. He is also away right now but we should have more answers tomorrow.
All of our payments are handled by PayPal and have been for years. We do not store your credit card information on our servers. We just store the last 4 numbers which we display.
@jaehyun - I don’t know what that message you are talking about is but perhaps it is spam email or something.
Yes, I recently had transactions from paypal with random Asian names the last two times I bought points for LingQ. Each transaction also said IAT Paypal.
@mark i receive sms whenever i use my credit card from the company. it is not a spam so the company recommended me to reissue the card for safety.
Well, if you continue to have problems, feel free to contact PayPal. They can explain their security procedures to you.
@aybee77 - Can you forward those emails you received from Paypal to support so we can see what has happened there?
@jaehyun - Did those failed payments correspond to failed payments on LingQ?
