Hello, recently I started to get an error and because of this I can’t import videos from YouTube and wanted to ask if somebody also has this problem or is it just me. I use google chrome
Confirmed, I have the same problem.
I’m having the same problem, but on Firefox.
We are investigating the issue. Thanks for your patience.
Me too. Always patchy last few months but doesn’t seem to work for days now.
The same here. For some reason I can’t import lessons from YouTube. I noticed this yesterday.
Same for me, import from Youtube stopped to work. Actually it is deal breaker. In Turkish there is almost nothing in community section, so all of my language input consisted from imported from Youtube materials. Now my subscription for LingQ is totally worthless
Have the same problem send an email to support almost a month ago. no reply no nothing.
Send an email every day until they fix it. That’s what I’m going to do. We paid for a product in good faith and they are failing to deliver the product.
Any word on this???
We are still working on this and we apologize for any inconvenience.
I have noticed for me it’s only some languages that have the problem. I just imported a video to my Japanese course and it imported with zero problems, but I cannot import anything to my German course.
I’ve had the IOS app for 2 days and haven’t been able to upload any Hungarian videos from YouTube, which is a bummer because all of the content in LingQ for this language is uploaded by users. if I can’t find a workaround will probably not renew at the end of the month.
Everyone, as a workaround, you can grab the youtube video link. Bring it to a youtube to mp3 converter:
YTMP3 - YouTube to MP3 Converter (ytmp3s.nu)
Download the mp3 that’s created. “Import” it as an audio file to LingQ and it’ll work. Yes, a little more inconvenient, but not too bad while the LingQ team works on the fix to import directly.
Note*** - you won’t have the video for this, so this is only to get the text and audio
We hope to have YT issues fixed for good soon, our team is constantly working on it.
It is a problem with changes that YouTube has made and we are working to resolve it. In the meantime, YT import should still work with videos that have manual captions.
Ling import youtube feature doesn’t work at all. Tried so many times. its frustrating little, it was main reason to having lingq. I am considering to cut the membership with my two accounts.
You can add the download link in the lesson creation menu after the audio file has been transcribed. If you delete the audio file after adding the video, the timestamps will be applied to the YouTube video. I’ve described this in one of the other threads dealing with exactly the same topic as this one here.
Good tip Obsttorte. I tend not to use the video in LingQ because in the past it has often gotten out of whack somewhere in the middle of playing, especially since I like to go through sentence mode. Recently it’s been much better. Even when I’ve adjusted the text to be true sentences (not the breaks youtube sets up) and regenerate timestamps.
I found that the AI process didn’t work on Monday - but it worked fine on Tuesday!! However, it no longer works on Wednesday (today). So it appears that LingQ has a workable software process. Thus, is this just a hardware or storage issue?
