I sent email to LingQ about pinyin error, haven’t heard anything

I have reported an error via email to LingQ about this pinyin error in LingQ’s Greetings and Goodbye course, but I haven’t heard any responses. I’m a paying customer, just trying to learn Chinese lol. Not sure if there’s an issue with my email or what, but just wanted to let you know, @zoran

Hi George,

I saw your email and replied to it. Our content manager is aware of the issue and we will have it fixed for both the Spanish and Chinese lessons you reported. Thanks!

Hi @zoran thank you for reaching out. I just sent another email because there’s also a translation issue in sentence mode for one of the sentences in that same lesson. I am not sure what’s going on. :frowning:

Thanks, I’ll look into that.

Thank you @zoran I appreciate it. Please keep me posted. I’m curious what is going on. It makes me nervous / wonder whether or not I should continue with LingQ with me being given incorrect translations and incorrect spellings in official courses. I just started learning mandarin too. It’s frustrating but I appreciate you helping to get this addressed for me.

Hi @zoran —just wanted to gently follow up. The pinyin issues are still there, respectfully. Are they going to fix/upgrade the tech for pinyin? Just wanted to inquire.

LingQ only has one pinyin per character, while many characters have multiple pronunciations. It’s a shortcoming of the software that will simply never be resolved. It only comes up once in a while, especially at first, and I’ve found it to be at worst mildly annoying. Most of the time the user-generated definitions include their own pinyin for these words.

I understand what you are saying, @BassmasterJJ , I am not trying to be rude, but as paying customers, and as learners, accuracy and typos should not be an issue.

I hear you. Just don’t get hung up on it unnecessarily.

Very true, but Lingq has had issues with Chinese and Japanese for years now. I thought about buying a lifetime membership to start Japanese, but was put off by the many forum posts mentioning various issues that still haven’t been fixed for good. What I am trying to say is don’t get your hopes up too high that issues with the Chinese pinyin will be solved anytime soon. There are so many bugs on this site they have given up on fixing most of them.

@george We will do our best to have it improved in the future, that’s in our plans.
