I have read between the lines and heard you overtly

A: If I’m not being clear, I mean fire her!
B: Yes, sir. I am on it.

Question: This is the first time I saw this word “overtly”. It’s a new word to me.
Is this word common? Do you use it often?
If I don’t know this word, what word could I replace it with in this situation?

Thank you!!

Overtly means open to view, manifest. It’s used more in writing, very seldom in casual conversation. You could say “I have read between the lines and heard you manifestly or openly or plainly or clearly.”
