I am reading “Study in Scarlet, Chapter 1, Episode 1” and don’t get the
meaning of “take up my quarters” in this.
Presumably quarters in the sense of lodgings, or rooms. To take up one’s quarters = to move in, unpack, eat the complimentary chocolate on the pillow.
