If somebody holds you tightly (like the picture below), is it weird to say “I’m out of breath”?
“I’m out of breath” is what one would typically say after some strenuous physical activity.
Agree. “I can’t breathe” or “I’m struggling to breathe” or something similar would be more appropriate in this situation.

I’m out of … means you don’t have enough of something, or you’ve run out of something, or you’ve used all of something up. I’m out of water. I’m out of money. I’m out of time. I’m out of breath.
