How To Remove Amazon Import Kindle Purchased eBooks into Lingq Using PC

Hi I wanted to share something with the Lingq community that I discovered earlier today. I have been trying for a while to import foreign language ebooks, purchased from amazon, into lingq.

As you may know, ebooks purchased from Amazon in the “Kindle” format, come with a special encryption that restricts you from importing the file anywhere other than the Kindle app. This restriction must be removed before properly importing the book into Lingq.

If you have attempted to circumvent this issue before, you will know that tutorials on how to do so, either do not work when tested or are outdated due to Amazon’s efforts to patch and update their security surrounding ebooks. (I will not digress into a discussion concerning the erosion of ownership and what you should and should not be able to do with items that are sold with the expectation of ownership attached)

This is a link that I found today that worked perfectly with no issue. Easy to follow with basic computer literacy. Please make sure you follow the steps exactly, as to avoid mistakes and repeat attempts.

Tips:

  • Act quickly, these tutorials (and the links and methods associated) often become outdated without notice or recourse.
  • I converted my ebook into a EPUB file and that seemed to work great for importing into lingq. Lingq automatically created a course for the book, separating the chapters into individual lessons.

*The book I imported is a first person account by a female author, however when I generated the audio for the ebook here an lingq, the audio was a man. Also he has an accent from Spain and I am studying with a Latin American emphasis. If anyone knows a way that the automatic audio generation voice can be changed, please let me know.”
