I can mark a phrase or a sentence in LingQ and get it translated into my native language. But how is that accomplished indeed? Does LingQ use anything like Deepl or Google-Translate? I didn’t quite get it to be honest. For single words there are suggestions often used by other users first, and then I can choose one of the provided dictionaries like Leo or Linguee to search for the meaning by myself. But how does it work with phrases or sentences?
You will get a DeepL response when you click and drag over a word or phrase along with any notes other users have made for that word or phrase. The dictionaries not appearing for phrases is a bug and should be resolved at some point.
Google translate was previously used and I think they are looking into GPT for translations in the future.
