How do I use Hanja in learning Korean?

I studied Japanese before studying Korean so I kind of know a lot of hanja without studying hanja. My tip would be just to notice the hanja when you lookup a word in the dictionary. If you make any vocabulary flashcards if it’s not too much trouble to add the hanja to the back of the card then you can just sort of curiously look at them sometimes when you review the flash card. That’s how I’m doing it. I guess you could try to deliberately study them but that would basically mean rote memorizing them and that’s pretty painful and while with Japanese or Chinese it’s an important step for becoming literate, hanja is just an aid to better understanding or remembering a word. There’s a huge difference there. Of course if you just like Chinese characters and want to study them that’s cool too.
