How do I upload the transcriopt to a new lesson now??
Where is the one page editor where we can assemble all the data for a lesson at once?
How do I upload the transcript now, if I have to do this dumb step of first loading the audio and then digging around trying to find out how to upload everything else?
Click on the Import Lesson button > Type or Paste. Is that what you are looking for?

Where is the box to specify the audio file and the choice for the course?
There are other options missing but those appear to me to be the most critical.
When you add a text and then go to the Edit Lesson page, you will be able to upload an audio for it and place a lesson into specific course.

I remember that the unlimited transcriptions got cut off, and now we only get a few a month, so I want to avoid wasting one of my few transcriptions because the new lessons system is broken.
What should I do to avoid wasting an unnecessary transcription?
Is uploading the transcription first and then adding an audio later sufficient?
I want to make sure that doesn’t burn up some other quota for generating audio.
@zorbital Yes, your audio transcription time will only decrease if you actually generate the transcription, not if you manually add it.

@zorbital I don’t think that is a problem and I agree that posts shorter than 20 characters are pointless and mostly spam. We won’t be removing that limit.
