I’ve been going through a lot of intermediate lessons, mostly from Teppei Sensei and Noriko Sensei. They use many words translated into Katakana, but these often have similar meanings to words spelled in Hiragana or Kanji. I end up adding some of these words but I’m not entirely sure whether or not they are real Japanese words.
I’m not sure if I can consider marking these as ‘known words’ because I’m not convinced they’re actually used by Japanese speakers (are they just automatic translations from ai?). There are many other examples of words like this, but I’d like a Japanese person’s perspective on it.
I think you misspelled Marketing as ケティング instead of マーケティング (“ma-” was missing). With マーケティング you can find even a whole youtube channel like https://www.youtube.com/@marketing-zamurai
I check Jisho when in doubt. I figure if it’s in a legitimate dictionary, it’s a legitimate word.
Be careful because sometimes the word splitting is incorrect. From your example, ケティング = Marketing is incorrect because it’s only part of the word. The full word is マーケティング. In this case, searching for ケティング would not generate a result, meaning that it’s not a word.
