ChatGPT sentence translation on LingQ for Italian to English is very good.
Here’s an example, which is written in non-standard speech (Napoletano):
Ch’amm’'a fà?
Google Translate gives this response:
What am I doing?
DeepL gives this response:
What can I do?
And ChatGPT gives this:
What should we do?
If you ask all three for a translation using standard spelling (Che abbiamo da fare?), you get a correct answer from all of them:
What do we have to do?
In this particular case, ChatGPT performed the best. It correct the correct subject of the verb, whereas the other two did not.
From my experience, ChatGPT performs the best for Italian out of the three for non-standard spelling and it performs great for standard spelling too. It’s not 100% right all the time, but it’s pretty damn close. Especially, as my Italian is already at a high level, I can often spot any of the serious errors it makes, but it’s quite rare.

I’ve been using another reader for reading French. There I use chatgpt to translate phrases or chuks of text up to 150 words. The results are good, although sometimes it spits out a bad translation (you can instantly tell by the feel). Plus it can give etymology of the word.

I feel conflicted recommending it, since it only saves you a couple of clicks/time.
