Holistic learning versus structured learning

To answer Steve’s question, I would say “both”!

I do like to study grammar and morphology in a structured way, but I’m certain that this is only a kind of adjunct to the process by which the brain learns a language - essentially it speeds up the process of noticing things when listening or reading authentic content.

Of course, we can contrast ‘global learning’ with ‘structured learning’, but we don’t have to oppose them.
Moreover, in my opinion ‘holistic learning’ together with reading and listenin includes some grammar skills, otherwise even by the large vocabulary you will speak your new language on the level of a 2-year child, with a lot of grammar mistakes.
