Hi, is there any way to import YouTube videos with audios only

As described in the title, I’d like to import youtube videos into LingQ but only keep the audio. Because, I use lingQ on my phone a lot, the video widow block a lot of the screen which make some extra difficulties to read the words at the same time. And occasionally it takes much more time to wait the videos loading. I am aware there are ways to transform the video to audio version and then upload. I’d like to know if there is a hidden, simple way that LingQ provides to use the share button on youtube to achieve this. Thanks!

Video gets imported automatically. Its not possible to avoid it. What you can do is to open Edit Lesson page (on the web version) after importing and you can remove the video from there.

Since LingQ doesn’t provide a simple way to do it, I use an online tool at https://cobalt.tools to download just the audio of YouTube videos, and then import the audio files to LingQ where they are transcribed into text that I can read while listening along.

Most of the YouTube videos that I do this with are audio-only, with an unchanging image on the screen when viewed on that other site – things like old radio shows, etc.

Sometimes cobalt is a little temperamental though, and you need to play around with it to get it to work.

Do you like this layout for an audio-only YouTube vids?
