I don´t see it anymore now that version 5.0 seems to be out for the website. Some people found it silly and I guess it doesn´t really have any greater meaning or functionality, so I can understand if it was removed. I personally enjoyed it, even kind of wanted a feature where you´d see all your avatars together, but I won´t lose sleep over it.
Hi, I’m afraid we have retired the Avatar. We should have a retirement ceremony for him or some kind of similar event!
That´s understandable. I took screenshots of my Avatars, so I have my little collection of them. Lucky I was able to max out the Spanish one (they stopped growing when you completed Advanced 1) just before the avatars were dropped.
I had only one for German but he was proud of his 2 swords. I agree on the retirement ceremony 
Wtf why ??? I spent years very slowly building mine and it was actually a big motivation lol. Any reason has to why you removed this feature ???
Sorry about that. The reality is that it was not that popular a feature and would have required a lot of work to update and make it better. We felt we were better off moving on as it never ended up being the motivator we thought it would for most.
I will miss my avatar and my apple! I was looking forward to getting a new hat and more toys for my little guy some day! Is he dead? if so, that may be seen by some people as cruel. In my case, no matter what, I will believe that he is safe and warm somewhere in the ether of internet heaven, playing with all the other lost avatars!!
Will it still be available in the ‘‘classic’’ section of lingq at least ? Because if not, I mean there is no point for the coins either now lol. Half of the ‘‘fun’’ of lingqing is gone with no avatar and coins that you we can’t spend anymore

I posted mine on the profile feed. It’s a bit sad that it’s less and less fun here. Streak as well isn’t fun anymore - too easy, “Insanely” easy.
I think the concept is good – focus less on making LingQs, and more on overall activities, but it feels like they are missing a 0.
I don’t worry about streaking (anymore), but it was fun to see I had 50x’d the daily goal yesterday.

Avatar was funny but i see that could be hard to update… But the apple badge does not sound as somthing that you cannot keep on the site. Sad to see this change.
Yeah, it was a tough decision but the fact is we had to make that call. The Classic section is not going to work anymore. Give us some time to get this update settled and then we’l see what we can do about the avatar.
Yes I think the apple was a good motivator.
Many people found the avatar to be useless or were even insulted by it, cause they felt LingQ had wasted development time on a childish feature that could have gone into improving the usability. I guess it´s just supply and demand. The avatar wasn´t that much in demand and it cost resources to maintain or improve.
I found the avatar to be a bit of a fun. I thought it was both motivating to see it grow and get dressed and have gadgets and also just nice to take a bit of a break to buy stuff for it. I guess it appealed to my collecting instincts too in that it was a bit of a sport to have a unique one for each language, each with their own clothes and looks that usually related to the culture of the language.
I would have been fine with keeping the Avatar exactly as it was and not to have it developed as long as they´d have at least had a flag item they could hold that represented the language, same as the ones identifying the language you are currently using. If they´d have kept the avatar and added a few culture specific items for the new languages added and those that didn´t have them, that would have been even better.
Yep I wish I´d have taken some more myself. I don´t have screenshots of the French musketeer or the Dutch female costume for example or any of the sports team outfits for example.
The apple was good and we still maintain that functionality but it is no longer an apple. The streak indicator will change colour as you do more just as the apple did. We need provide a list of the new colours and it looks like the levels aren’t set correctly. But, the same functionality will be there to show how active you have been over the last 30 days.
Alright, do your best guys. Because with no avatar and now useless coins Lingq is still a good learning platform but the fun part is gone.
