Frisk and pat down

"The officer patted me down even though I told him I didn’t have a gun on me. "
I think frisk and pat down have the same meaning, but I’m not sure about it.
Can I use “frisk” instead of “pat down”, so the sentence is like this:
The officer frisked me even though I told him I didn’t have a gun on me.
Thank you!!

Yes, frisk and pat down are synonyms.

Definition of frisk: to search (a person) for something (such as a concealed weapon) by running the hand rapidly over the clothing and through the pockets. Definition of “pat down” is frisk. So you can use them interchangeably according to Merriam Webster.

Thanks a lot!

Thank you very much!

Did I do something wrong?

It’s a joke. Meaning, did you get stopped by the police and that is why you’re asking.
