French Historical Fiction?

I really enjoy reading historical fiction, particularly by Bernard Cornwell; I have been a fan of his saxon tales series for years. I am wondering if there is any good French authors who write historical fiction in a similar time period (Say, between A.D. 600 and A.D 1500) with similar content themes surrounding events like the 100 years war or the Norman invasion of 1066. It doesn’t have to be those event specifically, but it just gives you an idea of what I’m looking for.

Thanks!

Yes,thats an all-time favorite

That definitely looks like it fits what I am looking for. Too bad the covers for the English translations look much better than the original french covers. As a graphic designer, these kind of things bother me wink

One example is Jean Giono - Le Hussard sur le Toit

I would recommend the same thing, even more because you can find the audiobooks in french with relatively ease.

Some other books and writers here
Les livres sur le Moyen-âge - Roman Historique I would pick Amin Maalouf.
You could also try Cornwell in french Bernard Cornwell — Wikipédia
