Thanks for giving me access to the beta for 5.0. It looks really good and a big step forward. I have done a bit of reading today using the beta and here are a few bugs mostly that I have noticed in this time. I hope this is useful.
I am using Firefox 95.0 on Ubuntu 20.04. Most of what I mention has been reproduced on several computers, including one running Windows.

I notice the right arrow at the top right that is used to switch from sidebar-mode to bubble-mode is labelled “LEGACY”. I hope that does not mean that this feature will be removed since I think it is really good, especially for people like me who have tablet touchscreen computers (I mean devices running Windows or Linux and not running iOS or Android). I have already done some reading in this mode on my touchscreen tablet and it is really nice.

When I have the reader in sidebar-mode, it seems that looking at lingqs and new words is very slow. It reminds me of how it used to be back in 2012 when I first joined. When I put it into bubble mode it seems to be normal speed.

Using the arrows to move between highlighted words appears to be broken after switching between sidebar-mode and bubble-mode. Moving forward works well but when I press the back arrow it gets lost. No word is highlighted and when I push again the forward arrow it jumps to some seemingly arbitrary word on the page. This appears to be related to the fact that changing mode changes which words, and specifically which lings/new words, are on the page without updating something important. You can see because this bug can be fixed by moving forward or backward in the pages which I guess causes the thing not updated to be updated. Interestingly this does not appear to happen with other things that change which words are on the page, such as changing the font size and changing the window size.

Paging backwards with the arrow appears sometimes not to change the displayed page though the blue and yellow words on the previous page do get highlighted. Strangely I cannot reproduce this problem regularly so I’ll just have to keep my eye out for it.

In both modes, after paging forward by pressing the right arrow while on the last highlightable (blue or yellow) word there is a bug. The page changes and the first highlightable word is selected as normal. However, if I press the right arrow to highlight the second word on the new page too quickly, it will do it but then go back to the first word again. I assume this is caused by the first word being selected by default when the loading of a new page is complete.

The previous bug also happens when using the mouse to change page and select words.

When I change the window size, the text shown on the current page changes, which is of course necessary if the font size is to remain the same. The part of the text shown on the current page seems to change a second time about a second or two or three later.

In the reader settings, when I change the highlight style for light theme to be “underlined”, no words are underlined and the phrases are still highlighted as previously.

I seem to be getting regular bubbles popping up at the top right telling me how many lingqs I have made today. Seems to happen every 15 or so lingqs, maybe related to my daily goals being on 13 lingqs. It is pretty annoying.
