Feature request: Keep screen awake during video/audio playback on Android

When using LingQ on a tablet or smartphone, the device can currently go into screen timeout / standby while a lesson video or audio is actively playing.

This is particularly inconvenient when using LingQ in Video Mode or while following the lesson text, because in many cases the user is actively watching the video, listening to the audio, and reading the synchronized text without touching the screen.

In this situation, the lack of touch input does not mean that the user is inactive.

It would be very useful if LingQ could automatically keep the screen awake while:

  • a lesson video is actively playing
  • lesson audio is actively playing while the lesson text is open
  • the user is in Video Mode or another active lesson playback mode

Once playback is paused or stopped, the normal Android screen timeout could resume.

This would avoid requiring users to change the global Android screen timeout or use external workarounds just for LingQ.

For language learning, especially on tablets, it would make the experience much more natural because users often spend several minutes simply watching, listening and reading without touching the device.

Tested on Android tablet, but the same behaviour would also be useful on smartphones.

@gun_jack Thanks, I will forward this to our development team.

I concur. This would be very useful. I don’t recall having this issue until recently. Now, every time my phone goes to sleep or screen turns off, my playlist stops as well. I would love if the playlist would continue to play, This is typically how music works - it doesn’t matter if my screen is on or off. Thanks!
