Faster Way to LingQ on Mobile?

I bought Lifetime Spanish for this app a few years back when things started getting serious with my Puerto Rican girlfriend (now fiancée) in order to speak with her family. I’ve severely neglected to use it primarily due to the mobile reading/lingqing experience.

I had an email come in today which reminded me of the app and I wanted to see if there’s any way to make creating lingqs a quicker process on mobile. Currently, if I want to create a lingq, I have to click on the word, pick a definition, and then I’m done. This isn’t bad for words I don’t currently know, but what if I do and simply want to track it as a known word? I have to click, add definition, click again, and then click known.

To my knowledge, you MUST create a lingq for the word to be tracked. Selecting “known” gets rid of the highlight but doesn’t add to your counter in any way. The friction with this causes me to spend more time creating a lingq than reading.

Somewhat unrelated, but I wish LingQ would have a primary dictionary-based definition by default and then allow you to select user-generated if you need more nuance.

You can make word as Known directly without saving it as LingQ first. If you do so, it will be included in your Known words stats, it just won’t be listed on the Vocabulary page where you can see all your saved LingQs. if you have Paging moves to known enabled under the Settings, when you move between pages, all remaining blue words on the page will be moved to Known automatically.
