Error with Youtube Audio Tracks

I use LingQ to learn German. Lots of videos originally German have alternative audio tracks in English and other languages. Even though the original video is in German and I have selected the German audio track, LingQ imports the AI-generated English audio. The script is in German but the audio does not match. My YT UI is also in German.

Is it possible to resolve how LingQ interacts with videos with multiple audio tracks? This makes a large swathe of documentaries/news unusable.

Thanks. Can you please post example video URL?

here is an example:

LingQ imported the original script and title of the video in German, but the AI-generated auto-dub audio was imported.

From my experience, this occurs when importing any video with an English audio track - it seems to switch to English as default, even when the original video/subtitles/UI language and LingQ import language is in German.

This happened to me tonight when I was watching a Spanish movie imported from YouTube – even though I made sure that the Spanish audio was selected when I imported it. The text on the LingQ lesson was in Spanish, but the video was playing auto-generated English audio.

I enlarged the little YouTube video window so I could get to the settings icon, clicked it, and selected the original Spanish audio track and reduced the video window again so I could see the imported text transcription.

Everything was fine after that. You still have the ability to change things around with the video, you just need to make sure that LingQ imports the correct captions.

Hope that helps.

Oh! Brilliant! Thank you. I’ve had this problem for months. I brought it up and saw that others were having the same issue, but we were promised only that “we are looking into it”, without any follow-up. This indeed solves it. Thanks sockdoll!

Thanks!

It completely slipped my mind to change the audio track using the window locally in LingQ. I will give this a try later. Previously I had just selected the audio track on Youtube and then pressed import.

Thank you for your response.

Someone in this discussion seems to have found a solution. Regardless of which audio track you select when importing the video, lingQ reopens the video again and the audio track is switched back to English. I hadn’t thought to try changing the audio track using the video window locally within lingQ. I am quite certain that this will resolve the issue.

Same here, this was the first time that I ran into this issue.

Best of luck to you!

Thanks for the update here guys! We will see what can be done on our end too.

Same here. Tried every track, every language, every way for an hour. This iPad is 18,4,1. Nad on my IPhone .
Audio in LingQ is always English ! Japanese text.

We are working on this and we will have it fixed soon.

As someone else has mentioned, if you are to open the youtube video within LingQ and change the audio track after having imported the video it works fine. I don’t know how it works on IOS though.
