Error: Sorry! It looks like this page can't be imported. No appropriate captions found

It looks like they added a new tab called Pending Lessons. It took a few minutes for each video to import, so I’m guessing it’s being transcribed using whisper.

Wondered what was happening I have a video in pending. Quite exciting! Hope it works.

I did a test and a 34 minute video took 20 minutes to generate the subtitles for, I will add a smaller video and see if it is faster at all

Interesting… I have one that has been stuck in the Pending Lessons tab for a few hours now. There doesn’t seem to be a delete button to remove it from queue. Also, for Japanese, the words are not splitting and entire sentences are coming in as new long run-on words. I guess they’re still working on it.

Seems to be working for me today…

yeah it seems to be hit or miss, I’ve been waiting over 20 minutes for a 5 minute video to import, I guess I’m going to have to plan lessons a day in advance, or do the hack I mentioned above. There should be an option for “enhanced captions” which uses this new technology, otherwise if the user doesn’t want to wait they should have the option to just import the autogenerated captions from youtube

I personally really like the new subtitles. I tested it with three videos and the quality of the wisper subtitles is so much better than those that youtube created. This is worth waiting a while for the import in my opinion. Especially since you don’t have to actively wait. It just gets added to a queue.

For me its been more than 8 hours to import two videos 1 hour each, I think it is not reliable. Now I want to stop importing it and I cant do it! We are paying premium for a site that is constantly having bugs…

Hi all, it appears to be working now.

I believe LingQ now imports the captions already attached with the video, and if there are no captions then it transcribes/generates them from the video’s audio, processes it in LingQ. You are then you are able to see it under “Imported Lessons.”

@zoran thanks for fixing this y’all
