Yoko,
when we read, mind does not process every letter. Mind processes words, their shapes. Every word has its own shape, and all we need is just to look at the shape, the first and the last letter — voilà ! we know the word.
But when you write IN CAPITAL LETTERS, it is very difficult to our minds to read this text.
Let’s see
shape vs. Snape
SHAPE vs. SNAPE
As you see, words written in capital letters look alike, and it is quite difficult to notice that they have different second letters.
Hi Yoko,
I left a message on your wall. There are a lot of cats in Greece, but you probably know that because many Greek people like cats. Of all the places I’ve visited in Japan, Nagasaki reminds me the most of Greece-nice people and lots of cats (at least when I visited!) I’ve been to Tokyo too. Anyway, great to meet you.
Hey! Hello to everybody. My name is Kenny. Please welcome me. I’m just kidding!
This is my first time to be here. I really think LingQ is the great place to hang in and share your knowledge with other people. That’s why I’m here. I want to practice and study English.
English is my third languages. I’ve spent more than 5 years to learning English, but I never get better at it. How’s about you?
