Embed a browser in the app, to import paywalled pages

News sites and quality content are increasingly subscription-based/paywalled. For users - like me - who almost exclusively use a smartphone and a tablet, this valuable content cannot be imported into LingQ.

Request: embed a browser in the app.

On iOS, you can use the orion browser to use the LingQ extension, letting you import from paywalled sites. I believe this is a very recent phenomenon.

If you are logged in to paywalled sites, both Android and iOS apps have a browser extension you should be able to use from the built in Share menu in mobile Chrome or Safari.

My bad: I thought the repeated import errors (code 403) I experience with elpais.com were caused by the paywall.

URL: https://elpais.com/espana/2026-06-11/el-papa-en-el-muelle-de-los-cayucos-de-arguineguin-no-podemos-acostumbrarnos-a-contar-muertos-la-dignidad-humana-no-tiene-pasaporte.html

Yes, importing from El Pais doesn’t work. They must do something on their page preventing it but if you select the text and then try the extension it will import the selected text.

Huh, never knew about that. Guess I can throw out the Orion app now!
