E-ink devices for reading LingQ

I chose this eink because of my eyes. For me the screen response time is ok. I am very pleased
This is my first contact with a new eink device, after years of using a kindle. And I am surprised how fast it is and how convenient it is to use in the LingQ application. IMHO

Despite my doubts (detailed further up the thread), I did end up getting a Boox Color 7. I used an apk to install LingQ, too! I ended up customizing the color settings quite drastically - images are hardly recognizable, but text highlights are now clearly distinguishable and easy to read.

If you set the refresh speed to very high, it is actually quite pleasant to use! Ghosting occurs, but less than I feared. (I also set up one of the side buttons to do a full refresh on a long press, so when the ghosting gets too much occasionally I can easily wipe the screen.)

In terms of ease of use, I feel like a normal tablet (such as a iPad) would be somewhat smoother, not to mention the browser app with hotkeys, which is by far the easiest and smoothest setup.

BUT despite those downsides, I am really glad I decided to go for it! The device’s limitations make it as close to distraction-free as anything running LingQ can be for me. It’s allowed me to read on LingQ every evening before bed, while away from the phone and computer (and the stressful temptation to check something else “real quick”). With the right setup I also find it rather pleasant on the eyes! (Even given the grainy, dim color e-ink screen that is nowhere near as pleasant as a black-and-white one. Ultimately, the entire device for me is a huge compromise, but getting the trade-offs just right for my purposes.)
