I do find it useful, but it seems that many times it goes way faster than audio and is even a page ahead at times. If it’s in the same page, but in the wrong place it’s just a distraction.

Yes, it seems the timestamps are off on some lessons (perhaps older ones, before it became a big issue, and/or before the AI tool could reliably place them?)

Distractions are awful and show a deep lack of customer understanding. Please get rid of the black box on the sentence audio button.
A single shortcut to show the next sentence, play audio and show translations would allow me to recommend LingQ without caveating it heavily.

Regarding audio underlining, for those initially critical has the design change and the ability to turn off the feature entirely assuaged your concerns?
A lot of changes we make are intended for new learners who often have a difficult time onboarding to LingQ. This is one of those - the underlining feature is intended to help learners who are brand new to a very unfamiliar language and have a hard time connecting the written word to the spoken word. We don’t intend to put in distractions or negatively affect the experience for older users, but sometimes there are unintended consequences. I hope you guys can be considerate for new learners, while also continuing to express your frustrations and what changes you would like to see.

yes, I disabled it immediately 4 months ago when the possibility to turn it off was introduced.
This is because you don’t beta test new features with people that are really daily studying a language before introducing it to your customers. You don’t use the app like we do, for really learning a language, and not just to try the app; so you don’t understand these changes and force us to be beta testers even if we pay Premium.
We constantly deal with bugs on a weekly basis, you never ask before introducing a new feature, you almost never update us when new features are introduced, and rarely you tell us that there are new settings available to tweak things.
We just open the app, hope everything works, and sometimes we figure out new things.
Sure, we can make you this favour as we always do as Premium users with an increadible patience to all bugs we are constantly subjected to, and you could be considerate to the old users that annually pay you to support your software. If you were, you would probably act in a different way, and you would do something tangible, for example, gift us an entire year for free, to ackwoledge it.
Imho.

@tommy_learner_success One terrible distraction is this automatic translation of courses’ titles that was forced on the majority of users who neither wanted or needed it. If only we could have a setting to turn it off…

@SeoulMate This. I actually started to casually replace the translation with the original title to bypass this. But I don’t do this all too often, as it is tiresome.
@tommy_learner_success Personally I like the feature. But I also second what @davideroccato posted. You could ask for feedback before such changes to get some feedback before people get frustrated. And in general it is a good idea to have things toggleable and a proper documentation of the features.

@Obsttorte @SeoulMate we’re going to disable the automatic translation of titles in the library for intermediate and advanced users.
And @Obsttorte @davideroccato I hear you guys. It is a definitely a good idea to solicit feedback on changes that can upset existing users, and we will make an effort to do more of that going forward.

@kraemder Can you tell me more about that? We would definitely not do it by default, due to the paging to known setting. And we are a bit weary of adding too many settings, which makes the settings difficult to navigate for newer users. But this is something that we can consider.

You could just add an (i) on the right side of each settings, by hovering the mouse on it or clicking on Mobile, the user can see a short description of what that settings is about.

I already know that, but I am not interested in changing the interface language just to disable the translation of lessons’ titles. I prefer an option to toggle them off.

I think of this feature in the same way as stabilisers assist new young cyclists with their balance. This feature will benefit those starting out in their German language learning however more advanced learners will, like confident cyclists, wish to take off their stabilisers and turn off this feature as it is no longer required and will become a distraction
