Do you find learning with a tutor beneficial?

I’m wondering what you guys think about language tutors? As a tutor myself, I often tell my students that my main purpose is to give them confidence. Most of the learning is down to them. But what do you guys think? I also share my thoughts here https://youtu.be/WOpxjBuo1GQ

Tutors are good for intermediate or advance students who have a foundation in the language to build confidence and get native corrections. Also to get access to certain information and phrases that students can’t get off screen or the internet

Main goal of speaking is to be consious of your current skill and limitation. With some positive help you will improve as you are aware of your weakness. I still wondering if writing and homework are usefull. Writing is a slow activity. It takes me usually one hour to prepare homework. During that time I could have read and listen to a good amount of content. Therefore I tend to prefer listening to writing.

This month I have taken a lesson free month. I appreciate being abble to spend more time reading and listening. I like that freedom.

As you were saying in your video there is always a little bit of stress while doing a lesson one to one. Long time I haven’t done group lessons and they may be more relaxing for the student.

With a friend we speak his langague during 5-10 minutes and then we speak my langague during 5-10 minutes. For me this duration is perfect. One hour lesson is very long. Especially at the beginning, where the teacher is basically “animating” the lesson alone.

I’ve attended group lessons for B1 French and the benefit was essentially social and motivational. These days I prefer self study which I find more productive and enjoyable, I don’t enjoy speaking when I struggle to string words together, and my accent is poor, it’s stressful and unrewarding. That of course is just my case. There are other people who learn much faster with a coach. At a good B2 level and up then a coach or sympathetic friend can guide and encourage and see mistakes that I am not aware of. And it is good practice to talk in a safe environment where mistakes are not seen as failure. Native speakers can sometimes be very unsympathetic and damage confidence.

I need to practice French with a coach, output is important.

I think tutors are the most effective method to improve in a foreign language, no matter what level you’re at. What exactly the tutor depends on your level and your weaknesses. Can be costly though.
