Copying a Lesson from Simplified Chinese to Traditional

I wanted to use a show that I enjoyed to learn Chinese via LingQ, and currently have a lesson in Simplified Chinese of this show. Here’s the link to the episode in question: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAgi7HS8yJU

And (in case it works) here’s a link to the lesson: Login - LingQ

The lesson I generated (which I applied to be shared instead of private) has 117 “paragraphs” and is synced with the audio. The subtitles are in Simplified Chinese, which makes sense since it’s a Mainland Chinese show. However, my main focus is on Traditional Chinese, since I’m more interested in Taiwan (though I’m still interested in China). Is there a way to have a copy of this lesson in Traditional Chinese? e.g., importing the subtitles somehow then using a program to convert the simplified text to traditional? If possible, I want to keep the sync between the audio and the text.

I also want to hopefully find a more automatic way of copying the lesson than doing it by hand, if possible.

The

The best way to copy a lesson is from the Edit Lesson (under the lesson menu button, three dots at the top right) > Print Lesson. You can copy the complete text easily from the Print lesson view.

Regarding converting a lesson from Simplified to Traditional Chinese, that’s not possible on LingQ directly. You will need to copy the text, use available only tools to convert it and then import it under the Traditional Chinese slot.

The automation of this is a feature in the MasterLingQ (paid) extension.

  1. Upload the Simplified text to Traditional Library.

  2. Open the Lesson

  3. Open Rooster Lesson Editor → Click Lesson Files → Convert S2T

  1. New tab opens with a duplicated lesson but with the converted characters.

  1. Conversion and Duplication (including timestamps / audio) successful.
