Conversations

At what stage/level do you think is the best time to book a conversation?

Just interested to see everyones thoughts

I booked my first conversations in a new language (Swedish) after about nine months, but I have seen other people at LingQ who started working with a tutor quite early and can imagine doing this if I start a new language again. The tutor can help the student to express ideas in a simple way at the beginning, or explain certain things if necessary in the student’s language or one that they both speak.

Of course, the student should feel comfortable enough, but the beginning will always be somewhat hard and slow. But I try to remember a piece of advice I found on a language website (Greg Thomson at SIL.com): You can’t speak a language well unless you first speak it badly.
