I’m currently busy with “Who is She” in the Russian course, but find one of the female voice artist’s voice painful on the ear, especially early in the morning. Can the voice be changed? I see one can change voices in Settings, but this seems to have no affect.
The voice setting refers to ai generated voices, so text-to-speech (TTS). The voices in the LingQ lessons (the introduction, the short stories and “Who is she?”) are real persons afaik, so there is no way of changing them.
Exactly, as @Obsttorte explained, you can only change TTS pronunciation voice, but not regular lesson audio.
What a great pity! Listen to lesson 25 of “Who is she” in the Russian course and you’ll know what I mean. Even at low volume the one female voice artist’s voice is extremely painful to listen to, and she features in most lessons. Don’t LingQ vet their voice artists, setting minimum requirements? There’s a reason why only certain people are chosen to narrate documentaries etc., one can listen to them for hours, others should best choose another occupation. I’ve now paid a substantial amount for a daily auditory torture session, something I don’t look forward to. There was a similar voice in the Duolingo course, the only difference being that her high-pitched voice sounded like a prebuscent child.
