Cannot upload audio

I’ve been trying to upload an audio file, and it does not work for either audio transcription or as an attachment to lessons.

I’ve been trying to add one that is 17 min but it says it’s zero minutes and can’t be uploaded. Screenshot attached. I tried with two mobile browsers and the message there is it’s an invalid file - but the file plays fine and is m4a.

Did you try converting it to mp3? mp4 is more commonly used for videos, imho, so maybe the format isn’t fully supported.
EDIT: It actually states that the supported formats are: mp3, m4a, wav

My bad - I meant to type m4a, but thanks for the advice.

Update - I converted the file to mp3 from m4a and it works. But I can’t keep using free online converters, especially if LingQ officially supports m4a format.

Appreciate any help on what’s going on as I’m exporting audio files from Notebook LM and they export only as m4a.

This may be a Notebook LM issue as I normally export on a desktop and have tried doing this on my android phone - first time ever exporting audio from Notebook LM on my phone. I will try again on my desktop once I return from abroad in a few days.

There has been issues in the past with importing audio files that had uncommon bitrates. So maybe it is worth checking that.

You don’t have to use online converters for audio file conversion, btw. There is installable software that can handle the conversion just fine, like VLC media player.

@devinbrazier We have issues importing m4a files at the moment and we are looking into it. In the meantime, converting files to mp3 format should help.
