I often see the wrong pronunciation for words. Can you provide an option to modify it? I am studying Japanese, and a recent example is Chairman Xi (習主席). Lingq shows なら しゅせき, but it should be しゅう しゅせき. For now, I have to put the right pronunciation in my custom definition.
Update: now it shows しゅう ちゅうせき, which is also wrong. But regardless, the point is, it would be nice to be able to provide my own pronunciation when Linqq’s is wrong.
It is a combination of words. Does Lingq get the pronunciations from Jisho.org as its authoritative source and then it’s not possible to manually update them, either by the user or by Lingq?
I think because of the lack of a way for users to update pronunciation in certain situations, I often see definitions that include kana and/or the pronunciation.
Jisho and many other dictionaries pull from open source dictionary databases, and I suspect LingQ operates the same way. LingQ and Jisho are fairly consistent with regard to whether a word is treated as a word or phrase, though sometimes LingQ erroneously cuts up or combines words (it has improved lately with AI integration in LingQ).
I usually just add pronunciation to the definition if it’s not clear. It also helps since those are the two pieces of information you need available to really learn a word or phrase.
