Anyone who has seen the timeless classic A Christmas Story knows exactly what this line means and what this scene is about.
Who Is She? Lesson 24 is the embodiment of this scene.
I, as a rank beginner, took 3 solid weeks to get to Lesson 24 in Mandarin. I’ve been diligent and engaged, and have enjoyed working through the story in bite-sized chunks every day, with each day better than the previous. It’s taught me a LOT.
Then, suddenly, I’m faced with Lesson 24, an awkward full-on advertisement for LingQ, a product that I’ve already bought! If there’s a better way to shatter the “glass wall,” I couldn’t think of it. I no longer care about any of the characters in the story. Deflated.
It’s very disappointing and I’ll be moving on to other content without finishing the series. Just thought (hoped) you’d want to hear about a real user’s reaction to this easily avoidable “plot twist.”
