We’ve gone over this here before, but it seems like a useful article that lays things out step by step. The process is, admittedly, a bit technical and involved.
Yes. Very technical and complicated. Unless it was written after May, it’s probably already out of date.
If you want easy and the least time consuming, go with Epubor for decryption and Caliibre for organizing.
It was published yesterday, and does take the new changes into account. Calibre features prominently in their process.
Cool. If anyone succeeds with those instructions please let us know.
Trying to figure out which Epubor license would best suit my needs. Which one is most effective for you?
Works like a charme. But as the article stated, newly released books (April 22 2025 onwards) won’t be able to be downloaded with this kindle reader version and thus can’t be imported.
He knows! It’s been said a hundred times so far.
I’m curious if Epubor is able to decrypt all those too. I didn’t try because I still have much stuff to read.
I think you can’t use it on Mac, or maybe you have to download an old Kindle app version (and pull the ebooks from the library), but the old app doesn’t work with the new OS.
I don’t know about PC.
I used to download before but after that shift, I gave up on Kindle/LingQ all together!
If you’re in it for the long haul, I would recommend Epubor Ultimate lifetime and if you want Audible audiobooks, the Audible Converter also.
IMO, language learning, if you want to be fluent is a multi-year endeavor. That’s why I also signed up for the lifetime LingQ for Spanish.
Actually, I wasn’t even able to download many books published prior to April with that version of the Kindle Reader for PC.
That said, Epubor with the current version of Kindle for PC works on all of them.
I don’t know about Mac, since I don’t have one.
What type of options are there now?
Because I guess the Lifetime license that @Mycroft mentioned, and the one I bought too, it’s not available anymore. I received an email saying they were moving to a sort of 5 years license but no idea what they have now.
The “Lifetime” for Ultimate used to be $100, now it’s $110.
1-year is $30 and 5-year is $60
So, they kept the Lifetime but increased the price. I don’t remember that price, and I don’t remember the 5-year. I think when I bought it there was only 1-year and Lifetime.
both programs are 30% off right now for the holidays. I just bought them. have not tried either yet.
Libation is free for Audiobooks
