Can I just let everyone know that with the new iOS out today you can see a transcript of any foreign language podcast you are listening to on Apple Podcasts!!
Great advance.
That’s great news, I haven’t updated yet. I’m downloading it now.
Is this on Mac as well, I have an update for it to do as well.
It says: “Episodes in English, Spanish, French and German have transcriptions.”
But hopefully this list will expand with time.
I’m not sure Davide. I expect it will be.
I hope that I can copy/paste the transcriptions to LingQ, that would be probably more reliable and faster. Or maybe even import it directly.
Just updated my iOS, and opening Apple Podcasts for the first time after the update. This is what Apple promises, but as noted, it’s not for all languages yet – and not for my target Russian.
How available is the audio from Apple podcasts?
Downloading the audio should be easy enough if you have yt-dlp installed, e.g. I chose the a random episode from the website: This American Life: 825: Yousef on Apple Podcasts
And it worked just fine, yt-dlp ‘URL’
But I don’t see the transcripts on the website. I don’t have the app.
Apparently transcripts are available for just:
Podcasts in Russian are widely available on Apple per my experience, but not transcripts yet. I bring the audio into Lingq for reading anyway, so it does not matter to me at this point.
Updated as well. You can easily select all text and copy/paste it to LingQ as new lesson.
Website and Mac don’t have this update yet. It’s a matter of time.
