From time to time a have a lesson where the icon with the headphones symbol on the bottom left is not present (it actually disappears). I can only use a ‘start video’ button. This leads to another composition of the screen, with a video cluttering the screen, and very annoying automatic scrolling of the text.
Is there a way to avoid this, so to have a screen without video, and with text which does not scroll automatically?
This is about the Android app version by the way.
The lack of a the headphones means the lesson does not have an audio available – the “video” symbol is actually the Youtube symbol.
I’m not 100% but pretty sure that YouTube blocks audio without the video playing (so they can show ads and so you cannot hide the source and use the content for free).
The locked scrolling is a design feature but I don’t think it can be disabled. Suspect you’re in a niche position of wanting to disable it, but you could try testing for popularity in the feature request forum.
Finally, the desktop version lets you play the video without scrolling (but still must have the video on screen)
[Somewhat off-topic] I find the video poorly handled on web and worse on mobile, and sometimes just make an audio track out of the video and use it instead, especially on mobile.
