I see more and more people saying this - which is exactly what i said in beta testing. I was ignored.
Next time LingQ, you should perhaps consult your members on what they like BEFORE implementing changes?!

By the way, the funny thing is (it just came up to my mind) that we had paging here on the forum some years ago. They changed it to the scrolling mode. Especially for long thread like this paging was better. And it was more easy to find new posts than in this long thread with so many branches.
They should have just implemented free forum software like every other site uses. Better, cheaper, less work, leaving them time to work on important issues like bugs and glitches.
I see, here are a lot of arguments against the new version.
So, I will be honest - it was for me the same, because I am a litte older, and the classic version was familiar. Each new and changed thing needs a little more time.
I know, the new version is not yet at the end - some things can still be changed. I am not a programmer, so I donât know what is possible and what isnât.
Now, I worked a little longer with Beta, and it becomes more and more familiar. Indeed, I work at a PC! This is probably a big difference to others with iPad, iPhone, Tablet PC and so on!
The biggest wish I still have is, to have the whole text of a lesson on ONE page, except it is a really very long text!
To have the sight over all would be really helpful. The tip, to change the setting by the gear is not enough! This brings only a few lines more!
What I really like is the new possibility, to stop and run the audio by the spacebar!
How I mentioned before, some things arenât stabil, and from time to time happens confusing things there, but:
Rome wasnât built in a day.
Exactly, Vera, this is what I miss at most. This change was a really bad one!
Perhaps - one day - LingQ will answer our wish, or should we do a member vote???
It seems that new members donât have the possibility to switch to classic mode. I donât see this option.
On this screenshot the settings are opened and overlaying it.
Ok, thanks. Iâm looking forward to that!
We have to wait for the LingQ stuff. Sorry.
Thanks anyway.
Uploading own texts and audios works, but line feeds (CR/LF) are lost during import. I have to insert them manually. The sentences are also not recognized/split automatically. Itâs too tedious to insert these red sentence breaks manually - therefore I cannot use the sentence view on my tablet and/or iPhone which would be nice.
I am also not able to switch to classic (scrollable) display of a lesson like on a tablet. It is difficult to find the correct audio position for a lesson page⌠Any solution for this?
Thanks in advance for your help.
What do the gold circles ( up to 4 ) under a lingq represent? The words frequency of use?
I agree. Why would they put these weird drawings I have no idea. And it extends to their main page, which is one of the worst main pages I have seen in a while. I thought the previous main page was bad already.
Their main page makes no mention of the features in lingq, its font is hard to read, and the drawings dont bring up any thoughts of a language learning site at all. It also needs some pictures and vids of what you can do.
Looking good.
Both classic and new view have their pluses and minuses. In Chinese the new view somehow neutralized my external simplified-to-traditional-convertor. Also I quite like plowing through long long texts all at once. For those reasons Iâll partially stay with the Classic for now, and think it would be nice to keep it.
Every language product claims that they are the one that is different and better. I really think that LingQ stands out as the one where this is actually true. It is based on the input-hypothesis rather than the skill building hypothesis. The others, while invariably claiming that with them you will learn âlike children learnâ or âthe natural wayâ, are all mostly on the skill-building-hypothesis, and therefore severely lack in substance.
I echo the voices that hope that, while emulating the other sites with more of a cartoonish, gamified exterior, LingQ will always keep enough focus on its substance, content and decent functionality.
I have the same problem with traditional characters appearing.
Also, there is spacing between words, even if I deselect âShow spacing between words.â This is not how a normal Chinese text should look.
That is correct. New members donât have the option to go to classic view. That function only exists for pre-existing members.
Can somebody explain the meaning of the numbers behind these apples and coins?
Thank you for your great work.
Too bad. Seems I signed up a few days too late.
Maybe I use my tablet (still classic). Or I cancel my subscription. I really would prefer the classic view.
