I added a password to my existing account and successfully logged in on a separate device using 5.2.1 (299). I opened a Russian lesson that was created by LingQ some time ago by importing an epub book.
I selected a word new to me (vinegar). I then selected another word that I know (idea), in order to convince LingQ to create a lingq (see my previous message). It may be that I then touched the unknown word and then the known word again. I can’t remember exactly what I did. But a/the lingq panel for the known word (idea) popped up and it had on it the definition of the other, previously unknown word (vinegar). Here is a link to a screenshot:
It seems I have always used “autocreate lingqs” and I don’t want to turn it off, I want it to work in a consistent fashion that makes sense to me. (If the behavior I described is the way the existing app works then I admit my ignorance and will confess I gave up using the existing Android app a long time ago. I would always use the web site from my Android tablet instead of using the app. But I admit in recent years I have almost exclusively worked in the browser on my PC.)
Feedback: Maybe I am just missing a setting, but I wish when I resumed a lesson it would try and bring me back to where I was previously. It does have the progress bar, but always resumes from beginning.
Its not the expected behavior. This is the first beta version, it will have issues, and that is where the importance of feedback comes from. You should expect this and the text-to-speech issues fixed in the next version.
Thanks for clarifying. I certainly expect issues, it’s why I’m participating in a beta. I was responding to the idea that I could “fix” the bug by turning off the feature.
Very much agreed with your first point. I tend to use the app while walking, and right now I cannot really just use my thumb to mark a lingq known or change its status.
Additionally, I’d expect to be able to click on the number or the check mark to move the status, instead you kind of have to touch further to the right.
I’m not certain if this is a bug or feedback, but when I hit the back button on my Android device (not the in-app back button) while viewing a Course I’d expect the button to return me to the Library. Instead it closes the app.
Yes, the app should facilitate and streamline the reading process, not impede it. Everything should be towards that aim as that is the demographic that lingq is intended for.
If you add a password for your account on the web, you will then be able to log in to your account through the normal login form. That way you can work with your real data. At least, until we get social login working properly.
I have also noticed that strange audio bug. We will get working on that.
I’ve had this issue a few times now where when I click on a word and get the pop up window, I can’t get the pop up to close. I’ve tried touching a blank part of the screen. I can click on a different word but the box will not close. I have to close the app to get the page clear again.
When I open any lesson in Hebrew, all words are marked as known (despite that on web version there are some “yellow” or “blue” words). Lessons in German look correct.
I think I have had some successes sometimes by 1) touching the device’s back button or 2) touching a definition in the pop-up panel. But I may have misunderstood your situation.

I opened up a Hebrew article I had previously imported and it worked okay for me. There were blue words and yellowish words and uncolored words. I went through a page marking words and it all worked, though sometimes I was confused about how to make the lingq pop-up go away. (See other messages in the forum here.) The only purely weird thing was when I went to the next page the text-to-speech spoke several words I had worked with on the previous page. The known/unknown stats in the list of lessons looked accurate. So in general I wasn’t able to duplicate your problem report. Dunno.
You can swipe the pop up to dismiss it sideways or down. You can also expand it by swiping up on the handle at the top of the pop up and then you have a X button at the top to close it. Finally, pressing the system back button also closes the pop up. Let us know if some or none of that works.

I’ll try again later, that’s great to hear that it’s working for you. I’ve had a problem with all the lessons I’ve imported - everything looks as if I knew everything there (which is, of course, impossible :-D)
