Context:
Sometimes the LingQ single sentence translation is not good, and I want to submit it to DeepL.
Problem:
there is no way to select the text and copy the it to the clipboard. That forces me to open the source text in the browser, locate the text to translate, select+copy it, and then paste it it DeepL.
The ideal solution would be to submit the text to another engine from the sentence view UI.
Yup this will be useful, I was looking for an easier way to do this long ago but gave up. A feature like this would help with sentence mining while reading too.
On the browser, when we drag select → right-click → copy sentence it loses the space between words. On the popup that appear you can drag-select → right-click → copy almost correctly but it is missing the last punctuation. The translation in sentence view seems to copy correctly though.
Alternatively, we can use DeepL desktop app or Windows sniping tool and use their screenshot OCR function, but some formatting issues are present.
A copy to clipboard function using a simple icon will make copying much easier, makes it into a single click.
Just to add an alternative to DeepL/windows screen capture OCR. Wisp, can do the same too, and they just released free version a few days ago.
I don’t have a current need for it but can imagine it would be useful. A shortcut could make it part of a macro to save to a spreadsheet.

With a copy to clipboard function, I could also copy the sentence to Anki or ChatGPT or any other app I might choose.
Yep. This is one of the deeply stupid User Experience (UX) mistakes LingQ has made.
It can be worked around, as Hsingh notes, by Mouse Select Words → Copy Text → Click Right Panel → Mouse Select Words → Copy Text.
This should work out of the box. It shouldn’t be a feature request.
I can tell the mouse-keyboard event-handling code in LingQ is a disaster, but I still think this could be fixed without too much trouble.
