About saving words

When I open a new lesson, all the words show with the blue ink. Is it normal since I didn’t double click these words for saving? I thought that the new words should show with the blue ink after double clicking that word.

Besides, when I move the cursor on the words which show a LingQ bar. This bar shows sometimes the explanation in English and sometimes shows the sentences in other languages that I don’t understand. It’s strange.

Blue highlighted words are words that are new to you at LingQ. If you leave them alone and update the text, these words will become Known and will no longer be highlighted.

You no longer need to double click a word. If you see a word that you do not know or would like to save, when you hover with the cursor you will see that you click on New Hint to open up the LingQ box and search a dictionary. The first time you to this you may want to decide on the default dictionary you would like to use. When the dictionary opens you copy the meaning you want or type it into the Hint space. You can also click on known, if you do not need to look up the word.

In many cases these words have been looked up previously by a LingQ learner, in which case the various definitions chosen by LingQ learners will appear. Only the definitions in your native language should show, however, other languages are also showing now in some cases. I do not mind this, but it may be a bug, although not one that prevents people from using the system.

The user hints that we show you are those from people with the same native language and target language in the system. We can’t, however, prevent people from entering User Hints in any language they like. If people have entered the hints in another language we can’t filter those results out, but over time the appropriate hints should move to the top and since the most popular hints appear in the popup, the hints in other languages should disappear.

Hi,

I was just using lingQ with the spanish language, when I tried to click on new hint on the word “greña” the system opened this page Login - LingQ. The page is white and I can’t do anything else. It’s the first time until now. Good work

Hi wsxxsw,

That seems strange. Can you tell me which lesson you were studying?

Hi mark,

I was reading an article imported by me. Actually, after that, I tried another word but there were nothing in the dictionary. I don’t know, maybe it’s a problem with italian-spanish dictionaries.
